What “medical office cleaning” actually means in Charleston
A general office cleaner empties trash, vacuums carpet, and wipes desks. A medical office cleaner does all of that — and then handles a series of tasks the general cleaner wouldn’t even know to do. We disinfect exam tables with the correct contact-time dwell, sanitize blood pressure cuffs and stethoscope hooks, properly handle sharps container exteriors, color-code microfiber towels by zone (exam vs. restroom vs. lobby) so cross-contamination is impossible, and document every visit with a checklist that supports your practice’s infection-control policy.
The peninsula’s humidity adds another wrinkle. Damp environments accelerate biofilm formation on bathroom and breakroom surfaces, and a once-a-week clean simply isn’t enough for a high-traffic practice. We typically recommend 3-day or 5-day cleaning cycles for downtown medical offices, with a deeper monthly disinfection visit layered on top.

Every Preferred Services Group crew member assigned to a medical office completes our HIPAA-awareness training before their first shift. In practice that means we never read, photograph, or move patient charts; we don’t open desk drawers or filing cabinets; we don’t pick up paperwork left on counters; and we report any sensitive document we encounter on the floor to the lead, who reports it to the practice manager so the practice handles it themselves.
We also carry Business Associate Agreements where required and document signed BAAs as part of practice onboarding. Our cleaning logs intentionally avoid recording patient-specific information — they record the spaces cleaned, not what was happening in them.
After-hours scheduling that fits Charleston practice rhythms
Most Charleston practices end their patient day between 4pm and 6pm. We typically arrive 30–60 minutes after the last appointment, work through the evening, and leave the office spotless and ready for the next morning. For practices with extended evening hours we shift to a late-night or early-morning schedule.
